NOT EVERYONE IS HAPPY

Watching the videos of the vile Saddam, meekly submitting to the vocal inspection of a U.S. Army medic, I was struck by the resemblance to Yasser Arafat, the equally repellent leader of the Palestinians. Lo and behold, while so many of us rejoiced at the capture of the coward in his rathole, the Palestinians were mourning.

Palestinians Mark 'Black Day' of Saddam Capture

"...It's a black day in history," said Sadiq Husam, 33, a taxi driver in Ramallah, West Bank seat of the Palestinian Authority.

"I am saying so not because Saddam is an Arab, but because he is the only man who said no to American injustice in the Middle East," he said..."

And check out Reuters description of Saddam: "The former Iraqi ruler was a hero to many Palestinians for his stand against Israel and its U.S. ally, as well as for helping families of Palestinians dead in an uprising." Dead in an uprising??? These were homicide bombers who murdered innocent men women and children. Calling them "dead in an uprising" is an Orwellian misuse of language.

I was struct by his resemblance to our favorite western hemisphere tyrant Castro.-------- These Palestinians, that have turned a blind eye to the atrocities of Saddam because he bankrolled the murderous suicide bombers are their own worst enemies. The middle-east is now war-central in the battle against terrorism in any shape or form. To root for Saddam, in the long run is nothing but political suicide. I will never forget nor forgive the jubilation of Palestinians on 9/11. Hatred and vanity are now their main traits, they are not fit to run a country, much less to be taken seriously.

I would say something here about how absolutely ecstatic I am that Saddam has been captured, but given the feelings of the poor Palestinians I will restrain that impulse. To do otherwise, I fear, would be insensitive and divisive.
