PSYCHOBABBLE ALERT! ACADEMIC DIVISION

Horsefeathers welcomes the news from Berkeley's illustrious scientists that conservatism is a form of psychopathology, readily diagnosed. What next, psychotropics for these deviants? Perhaps conservatives could be helpfully treated in the manner of dissidents in the socialist paradise built by those wonderful dreamers of a better world, Lenin and Stalin.
Among the highlights of this "study", presumably funded by taxpayer money and student tuition: "Disparate conservatives share a resistance to change and acceptance of inequality, the authors said. Hitler, Mussolini, and former President Ronald Reagan were individuals, but all were right-wing conservatives because they preached a return to an idealized past and condoned inequality in some form."

But, but. . . This is all technically true.

Hitler and Mussolini were in no sense of the word "conservatives;" both aimed at radical change in the structure of their societies. The idea that someone is a conservative if they "preach a return to an idealized past" would include as conservatives a lot of people who would be surprised to find themselves in that category--like the anti-technology environmental Left.

I wondered how long it would take for someone to fall for this.

All three preached the return to, respectively, an Aryan uptopia, the glory of Imperial Rome. Reagan in true conservative self delusion hoped to bring the U.S. back to the "Leave it to Beaver" world that never existed the United States.

All three condoned inequality whether it was Anti-Semitism and genocide or Social Darwinism.

I think I was too subtle, lets try it again.

"But, but. . . This is all technically true." He said sarcastically.

Psychotropics? I don't think so, but I definitely need an anti-emetic because everytime I run into a moronic liberal, I want to barf.

ESP, you use the Roman alphabet when you write. So did Mussolini and Hitler. That make you a fascist? Respond please.
