LIBYA'S LEADER SPEAKS

"...AIDS, AIDS, AIDS. We hear about nothing else. This is terrorism. This is psychological warfare. AIDS is a peaceful virus. If you stay clean there is no problem," Gaddafi said in an impromptu 45-minute speech - which was supposed to have been a sweet and short thank-you address at the end of the summit.
He added that AIDS and malaria were "God's forces defending Africa" from recolonisation.

Gaddafi, besides being a dictator and tyrant, is a fool.

Yes, AIDS has to do, in part with personal behavior but not entirely. The risk of STD's can be reduced by an intelligent caution and a sense of personal hygiene about one's personal toilet and sexual habits. To me it is obvious that the ancient wisdom of the Bible concerning monogamy and hetrosexual marriage was not just arbitrary but in fact the result of much reflextion, prayer and bitter experience.
Be that as it may al thoughful parents,l citizens and leaders should be concerned with the spread of AIDS and the importance of arresting this disease or erradicating it.

The issues is far more complex that El Supremo {aka the Beast of Libya} purports. To me it is just more evidence of another ignorant, selfish, uniformed smug dictator who if I were he I would keep my head down and limit myself to oppressing my own people or perhaps in the near future entertaining Herr Arafat's retirement.

What about blood transfusions or people who have hemophilia? What about innocent rape victims who may exposed to the disease? What about innocent children born with the disease? I could go on but I have made my point.

The AIDS plague is a serious public health crisis that cannot be ignored.
