Andrew Wilkie, say hello to Ayatollah Kazem al-Husseini al-Haieri

In the spirit of British academia, though slightly more violent, Islamo-Nazism issues a fatwa concerning those irksome Jews:

A senior Iraqi Shi'ite Muslim cleric has issued a decree, or fatwa, ordering the killing of any Jew who buys real estate in Iraq, an aide has said...
..."Any Jew who tries, from now on, to buy a lot of land or a house in Iraq should be killed," the decree said. "Selling any lot of land or a house in Iraq to Jews is forbidden."

This is beginning to look like what I was worried about before the war.

The Iraqis are not as religious a people as their neighbors in Iran and Saudi Arabia, but they have a significant fundamentalist-Islamic faction. If the clerics can whip that faction into a frenzy now that the Baathist regime is gone, Iraq, and the American occupation forces there, could be in for a world of hurt.

Once upon a time, I thought to accept Islam as a worthy faith, that could stand alongside the Judaic and Christian faiths as a repository of Man's best spiritual impulses. But the pattern is all too clear now. Wherever Muslims predominate, there is no freedom and no peace. There's oppression and terror to rival the worst days of Communism.

If Islam will not produce its own Martin Luther, the civilized peoples will have to do something about Islam. The alternative does not bear contemplation.

" . . . the civilized peoples will have to do something about Islam"

Whom ever utters these words is clearly an un-"civilzed" being, unqualified to make such idiotic propositions.

Perhaps it should also be mentioned that the US directly supports -- and is indeed the sole reason for being in power of -- the fascist dictators in Islamic countries like Saudia Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Pakistan, Kuwait, and many many more. And by the way, who brought Saddam to power?

At the same time, why do we forget Judofascists in Israel and Hindufascists in India, not to mention the Bible-reading warriors in the White House? Why do separate rules apply? If you answered with "because one word describes US foreign policy best: hypocrisy", you won't get any prizes, because even a child knows this fact (but of course the American public doesn't realise why "they" hate "us").

Religious principles and their implementation are two different things, and I hope the fans of Fox News in America start to understand that. And while they are at it, perhaps they should also stop interfering in the affairs of other countries.
