May 16, 2003ISLAM VS. JEWISH BARBIE DOLLS"The Saudis are our friends, John.." President Bush to reporters, 5/16/03         The official face of Saudi Arabia on American TV is the oily Adel al-Jubeir. In his Saville Row suits and soft spoken, flawless English, he has learned much from years in Washington observing Bill Clinton. He bites his lip, chokes up, sheds tears and laments that we misunderstand the noble Saudi longing for peace. He is the perfect guest on the Aspen slopes and at Georgetown cocktail parties. He is shocked, shocked and pained that we would even imagine Saudi Arabia might be our enemy. At the same time as al-Jubeir was assuring us of how trustworthy an ally we had in his government we learned that, in addition to the huge financial support Saudi Arabians provided al Qaeda, al Qaeda was deeply embedded in the Saudi armed forces. Furthermore we learn from the indispensable MEMRI, that the government's Authority for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices, recently launched a new website. How fortunate that 9th century barbarian sentiment can be disseminated through advanced Western technology. How different also from al-Jubeir's syrupy reassurance of our shared values. As usual, its those damnable Jews, plotting to corrupt innocent Muslim children. A section of the website titled: "Exhibit of Violations," displays confiscated items from the "permanent collection of violations of Islamic law at Authority headquarters in Al-Madina." The section shows photos of perfume bottles shaped like a woman's torso, with text reading: "Perfume, but…! Examples of perfumes with good fragrances for women and evil bottles that harm the honor of the woman and undermine her morality. We must beware. The Prophet Muhammad said, 'Any woman who wears perfume and passes by people so they can smell it is a whore…'" Also shown is a photo of several Barbie dolls, along with the text: "The enemies of Islam want to invade us with all possible means, and therefore they have circulated among us this doll, which spreads deterioration of values and moral degeneracy among our girls." On the photo, under the heading "The Jewish Doll," is a story titled "The Strange Request." The story reads: "One girl said to her mother: 'Mother, I want jeans and a shirt open at the top, like Barbie's!!' The dolls of the Jewish Barbie in her naked garb [sic], their disgraceful appearance, and their various accessories are a symbol of the dissolution of values in the West. We must fully comprehend the danger in them." |
Where does the Barbie image leave Queen Noor and Mme. Arafat who both have Barbie looks?
Posted by: RUTH KING on May 16, 2003 08:12 PMCouple this to the proclamation by that cleric in Iraq yesterday ( http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20030516/wl_afp/iraq_shiite_morals_warn&cid=1512&ncid=1473 ) about how murdering "sinful" women and torching theaters that show "offensive" movies is justifiable under Islam. Would anyone out there care to maintain any longer that Islam is compatible with Western notions of freedom, individual autonomy, tolerance for the ways of other sects, et cetera?
Even the great ideologies of tyranny, fascism and communism, were seldom this overt about their intent to spill the blood of those who denied them.
Posted by: Francis W. Porretto on May 17, 2003 10:22 AMRight, even Stalin and Hitler tried to keep the extent of their genocidal ambitions secret from their own people. The Islamists are quite garrulously overt about their murderous aims.
Posted by: Stephen on May 17, 2003 11:00 AMyur all idiotic jerks. follow my advice and keep your silly notions to yourself. saying muslims are trying to hide deadly aims is idiotic. what about bush???
Posted by: mariam on September 10, 2003 07:58 PMyou know, people in the us arent the only ones that get the internet.
i collect barbie dolls because, lets face it she's hot. if they had a muslim barbie she would have a mustache and smell very bad and my barbie has perfume too, ok its just my old spice but she smells good, like ken but thats another story...
Posted by: Len Mass. on September 11, 2003 09:56 AMHey Miriam... Muslims are the most moronic people in the world. To say that Barbie dolls are degenerate. What is degenerate is strapping a bomb to yourself and blowing up innocent civilians. Muslims are cowards afraid to face up to the military might of the west so they have to attack unarmed civilians.
Frankly every single Muslim needs to die so the rest of the world can get on with building a peaceful and prosperous society. Muslims seem incapable of living in peace with anyone or anything.
Posted by: Patrick on September 11, 2003 10:17 AMArab men don't seem to have any problem with the Barbie look. When they travel to Europe or the US, they are always surrounded by Barbie-like young women. German and English girls - blond and blue-eyed - empty-headed and with no pride or self-respect, flock around these primitive men, who demand of their wives to be covered from head to toe, to be genitally mutilated, to be stoned to death if they err - men who commit "honor" killing on their sibblings and daughters. They blame the Jews for the most absurd "crimes" - now there is Barbie with whom to contend.
Posted by: N. S. Edwards on September 12, 2003 02:39 PMplease remember that many "Christian leaders" spout just as much nonsence as the "Islamic leaders" you are talking about here. and while there are Islamic "morons" that don't think for themselves, there are plenty of christian "morons" that act the same way.
It seems that the reason they can't get along is that they are really the same.
Posted by: baelang on September 14, 2003 04:23 PMWhile you could compare Christian leaders to Islamic leaders in their zealousness, I think it's a misguided comparison. If you talk about extremists, rarely do Christians become murderous as Islamic extremists do, outside of a few strange cult sects and maybe a couple attacks on abortion doctors. Devout U.S. Christians still partake in Western culture, Christian women work, wear T-shirts and jeans, etc. things that you could be killed for elsewhere.
Posted by: Marjie on September 15, 2003 05:26 PMHey everyone,
Posted by: salina on October 15, 2003 12:10 AMLet's be broadminded about everything. The truth is throughout history in every community and religious groups there have been and still are some fanatics. But most people regardless of their belief or culture are peace loving people. And all religion promotes respect and tolerance of others and condemns killing of civilians and thats a fact. SO, I do not think its fair to sit in front of the TV all day long and let it brainwash you into thinking that "they all" the same and therefore label a whole group based on the action committed by a handful of people under the guise of 'religion'.

hi, patrick.
please go the library in look for what have happened in Spain at the time of inquisition ( i don't how to spell it). where christians collected all muslims in a field, forced them to be christians,or if not hung those who refuse.
I am not trying to say that all christians are butcher. but at least you know that there are lots of blood in history of christian.
and who burned galileo because he against the church's point of view? who burned women alive in accusing of wizardy?, who dropped the bomb in hiroshina and nagasaki?, who killed the negro in the times of KKK?,
moslems should never force other people to embrace the religion. the christians in indonesia would be all dead if indonesian moslems do this.
